| April 7, 2000Saga of a Live-in! Geez and Apartment hunting...That "Conscientious" Live-in I had (notice past tense!) had to be fired 3 weeks after. The first weekend off, she came back a day late, saying her friend talked her into going to San Jose and proceeded to get drunk for 3 days (I guess!). The second weekend off, she came back a day late again, calling the second day, saying she had an abortion, which her mom took her too. Now, with my curious little mind, I had my weekend attendant call the room she was supposedly staying at with her mother, and low and behold... a girl answered, with party music in the background! The third weekend off, she didn't come back or call for 2 days, when she did call she said she got drunk and spaced out. So... I fired her, had my weekend person pack her stuff, waited about 2 weeks and called the AIDS Project to pick it up for their rummage sales.... >Can I pick'em or what!! Boy, she had me fooled. I've been dealing with the contract agency and newspaper ads, I finally hired a couple (don't like doing that) they lasted about 3 weeks before the happy couple started arguing (that's why I don't like hiring couples!) and taking out their troubles on me, either by rough handling or short tempers. And the boyfriend liked sleeping more than anything else! Anyway, I'm looking again. The apartment complex I've been waiting for probably won't be happening for long because they want me to declaw my 14 year old cat. I was told this at the interview I had 3 weeks ago. I offered a bigger deposit, gave them a letter from my landlord of 6 years and a statement from my Vet, saying the dangers of declawing an old cat, but they could care less. After the Vet explained exactly what they would do to Blue... I'm not taking the apartment. Or I'll be taking it till I find something else. I'm NOT amputating the tips of my cats toes just too have a place to live. Allen will take Blue until I can find another place. He's good with her and she likes him. I'm finding that 98% (no exaggeration) of rentals (Rental Management and/or private) won't take Section 8 (Government Subsidized Housing, they pay 2/3 of the rent) I finally got some people to tell me why. It's because the Government puts too many restrictions and (this is a killer) they won't let the owners ask for whatever amount of deposit they want. That shouldn't be an issue because the tenant pays the deposit NOT the Government. I offered to pay their amount, but no dice. Our Government offers a program but they make it so un-appealing that landlords won't touch it. The rent's guaranteed and they inspect me once a year, what other hoops does the Government make landlords jump through?? Now some good news, the guy (David D. Davis) that ripped me off for 300 was arrested in Texas, I would love to testify if they extradite him! When Deputy Gidding called to let me know they caught him, I asked or said " Great, You don't suppose he has my 300 dollars!" <LOL> I would love to roll in the Court Room... "A pictures worth a thousand words!" So... all in all, these past few months have sucked... But... how low can a snakes belly go! The only way left is up... right?? |
