August 5, 1999First Procarin TreatmentStarted Porcarin treatment today at 8 a.m.. The patches are about 1 1/2" by 3" (thought they would be bigger). The refrigerated Porcarin cream comes in thin syringes, with (I think) 5 days of applications in each, (if they're measured out right), you rotate where the patches are placed, not repeating the same placement on the same day. It sounds simple and it is! Once you get the hang of it, it should take about 5 minutes. My friend, Lulu Bay, is coming in every morning before work to put the patch on. I'm hoping my "Live-in" will get the hang of it, get and stay interested to do the process, so my friend doesn't have to come in (although I enjoy her company), I don't want to burn her out. I had it arranged (I thought) to have my new part-time Live-in (Damian D. Davis from Texas, 28 years of age) do the applications and exercising but that wasn't to be. He turned out to be a thief, robbing me of my $296. the night before it was delivered along with a book of my checks. I called the police, so we'll see. I'm not holding my breath. I had to borrow the money from my friend Lulu. 5 years ago I was going to City Council, Board of Supervisor, In Home Support meetings, with part of the agenda being the subject of "Us" not having the "Right" to do criminal records checks. It's a $10,000 fine for anyone to give out that information. People with disability and seniors don't have rights of protecting ourselves from criminals coming in or living in our homes until it's too late. In the 9 years I've been dealing with attendant care I've been abuse, threatened, ripped off, abandoned, left stranded with them saying... oh well, I had something to do or they decided to get drunk, not coming home till the bars close. (It's a good thing I don't live in Vegas, Vegas is open 24 hrs! I lived there in the '70s, working than) IHSS doesn't even have the right to do a criminal check, which is strange to me..They're a Government agency, they get out of it by saying I'm the employer, they're the paying agency only. It's a catch 22, I'm the employer but I don't have the right to check. They're a government agency but they don't have the right to check because they're not the employer! (put that in a trivia game!) This really brings home just how disabled I am. In the "Old Days", this (No.1) wouldn't have happened and if it had I would be arranging to look for Damian D. Davis. His real name by the way, he's wanted in Texas and Nevada... and GEE, if I had the "RIGHT" to run a criminal records check... I wouldn't be writing this! So, aside from all this, I've started treatment and hopefully exercising (broken record, huh!) along the way. |
