May 16, 1999Trying to get a referral...I keep meaning to make an entry but nothing is happening treatment wise, still waiting for Texas A&M to send the protocol. I'm glad it's not here yet, I'm having Live-in problems again. Starting this treatment with Live-in hassles or attendant hassles would be extremely stressful especially with hygiene. (I don't relish the idea of smelling like an outhouse) I can deal with missing a meal but hygiene or lack of, gets to me everytime. My Primary Care Physician has refused to do the treatment,(as I've said previous) I'm hoping for a referral. Dr. Forrest seems to think it's "Too Risky". Which is amazing to me, considering she agreed to refer me to Dr.Pomeroy for Novatrone! What's the big deal with antibiotics? If the "Risk" can be alleviate with yogurt (basically), they have drugs to lessen the risk of Candide. AND my freedom of choice is put in the toilet, once again. By her referring me, (I'll go through Pomeroy anyway) I'm hoping Medi-Cal will pay for the antibiotics, liver and kidney testing. By it being experimental, they may not. If they refuse, I have to Petition Medi-Cal to ask their doctors to look into it further. I hear tell! That they can overturn the Medi-Cal decision but very seldom. So, I'm not counted on it! About 8 years ago a MSer took Medi-Cal to court (I think in San Jose, CA) for not paying for a'then' experimental drug, (it's one of the ABC drugs) she won the case. So it is possible but I really don't want the added hassles. Don't doctors know that stress is a no no to MSers! I guess they think that living or existing in a world without control is a piece of cake! And I guess they think that MSers aren't capable of making a sound decision on a treatment plan. Risks looked at AND excepted. As always, I'll keep you informed. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks. |
