In talking with John Peterson, I've decided to go.
I'm making arrangements to go to Life Care Systems, Aurora, Illinois on March 17th. They would like 3 weeks notice, medical records, supplements I take (that's a list!) and arrangements for payments will be set up when I get there.Peterson says, he will not turn anyone away.
Peterson and Wechter (Investigators that find Bacteria in water and soil) discovered a new bacteria (it doesn't have an official name yet) in the Municipal Water Supply. This newly discovered bacteria heads for the CNS when it gets in a persons body. It is the cause (they say) of MS and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Wechter (Peterson's partner) uses an interesting example (KANE COUNTY CHRONICLE - Friday, June 19, 1998 - Article by Wendy Allyn) which is:
'Wechter cited the example of Australia's Dr. Barry Marshall, who was ridiculed 17 years ago for suggesting bacterial causes of peptic stomach ulcers. In medicine today it is common knowledge, but it was so unexpected at the time it was seen as silly, Wechter said.
'I gave my GP the articles, she wants nothing to do with this treatment. I got discouraged by her attitude, faxed Peterson at noon, he called at 130 p.m.. It will be easier to put (part) of my fax here:

John,
I called your number (Tue.) around 530 p.m. but it was the answering machine. Would you please call me?
I talked with and gave the Aurora newspaper articles to my GP. She said, asked, where's the evidence? Which antibiotics? The name of the bacteria isn't even mentioned, he's a fake. I won't go anywhere near this. If you want to go, that's up to you, you're wasting your time, getting your hopes up.
>From our phone conversation, you know I'm real disabled, on a fixed income, am going to be spending money I don't have, $1,500 for plane tickets, hotel and meals. Also there's the cost of your Clinic.
John, please, if this is a pipe dream, tell me now. I've just gotten through with a treatment of a year, with results of minimal benefit. My anticipation was Great, high from reading the studies, going back to 1985. I went into a deep depression from this. Then I came across your letter in Karan's Korner, I can't go through another disappointment.
There's so many people, MSers, officials and now my Dr. saying there's no way this is true. Obviously I want to believe this antibiotic treatment. But can you see how hard that is?
Please, get back with me.

End of fax...
Peterson/Life Care Systems doesn't want money up front. He absolutely/insists that this treatment will get rid of the MS. He asked me if my GP treats me for my MS? I told him no one does, not even my neurologist! He than said When I talk with a neurologist I say that the people being treated here are getting better, can you say that about yourself!...
>From talking with him, (5 times now) I'm going to check this out. 3 years ago I came up against the same wall with mitoxantrone. Everyone said no, it doesn't work, there's no proof ( the proof part cracks me up!) These statements came from the National MS Society in New York, my "Neurologist" and every doctor I had contact with about treating me, Goodkin of UCSF being one of them.
I want to stress here that Life Care Systems DOESN'T want money. In fact, he said, that as soon as they get set up to do their own lab work, when needed, it will not cost people anything. As it is now, if I was able to pay up front, it would be about $800. to get starred. I will be making payments that I can afford, which I haven't decided on how much that will be.
As I said the last time I was too begin a treatment, wish me luck! And I'm thanking Allen again, he's arranging everything and going with me as well as his girlfriend to take care of my hygiene.
I'll be making an entry after March 17th sometime.
