Story # 30 Another ImprovementSeptember 26, 1998 Another improvement! The past two times when using my Electric Peddler I'm noticing that I can sit up without being strapped in my chair. Usually I have my upper body tied into my chair while my feet and hands are hooked up to the rowing section of the peddler. When I've tried not being strapped in, I've fallen forward when my arms would be in a rowing motion.I also had a rolled towel along my side, bracing myself in tighter (just remembered that!) I no longer need the towel and no longer fall forward or to the side. The little PT that I've had, I'm noticing improvement. My improvement would be faster with more PT and an EMS unit (hopefully that will happen) but that's not happening yet. Medi-Cal has rejected PT and they are slow in responding to approve the EMS unit. With past experiences, I'm not thinking the best! With this treatment finally being presented, they may change their procedures. At any rate, I'll try buying one. Waiting for Medi-Cal just makes my improvements slower. I have a certain amount of time (haven't figured exactly) that I can do Novantrone before I reach my maximum. I'd like to get the full benefit before then. Thinking about that, I haven't found any reports on how MSers do after reaching the maximum, a year later, 2 years, whatever. Do they stay at the level of improvement, gradually improving or do they gradually digress? They've been studying various forms of this treatment since 1985, there must be follow-ups somewhere! If anyone knows, please write me. Now, back to improvements! A friend put an ad in an alternative newspaper, asking for volunteers to exercise me. A guy, Jesse, is coming in 5 mornings a week and a couple times in the evening to hook me up to the peddler and doing ROM. Real nice person. My index finger still likes music, my eyebrows are still being rubbed and I can still open my hands, right easier than my left. If I had extensive PT and an EMS unit my improvements would be more (had to say that again!) Now that this treatment has been presented, I hope that any MSers that want to try this can, without all the hassles. And when it is approved for MS, Insurance companies will be ready!... and again, no hassles! |
