René Part 20 April 17, 1998
My next treatment being June 15th, seems a long ways away. It is, considering I finally fired that live-in. She didn't come home, leaving me sitting in my chair till I called a past employee, who put me in bed at 4 in the morning! I fired her the next day, when she telephoned me at 9 a.m.. I won't get into this, She got drunk, (for the third time) enough said!!! Now, being that I haven't been taking my naps in the afternoon, (going on a month now) having to be up from 7 a.m. till 11 p.m., sitting in my wheelchair. I'm doing pretty good! My tiredness comes in waves but after I eat dinner, my energy picks up. Not having a live-in, Allen or an exercise person, (everything or everyone vanished at the same time!) my hands are still doing ok, My stamina, breathing, bowel function every 2 to 3 days, my feet not hurting while sleeping, I'm fine and strong consider. Before starting this treatment, I'd be as strong as a wet noodle! Staying up as long as I am, hassling for attendants and once again looking for a live-in of. Aside from these situations, I'm doing ok! Obviously things could be better, which they will be again
At times, you just don't think so:-) I'm finally getting Fitted for my Puff and Sip Wheelchair and hopefully "Environmental Controls" (EC)! EC's are too control my lights, heater, telephone, TV and hopefully to lock my doors, so I don't have to keep them unlocked when I'm home alone. In the past I've given out keys for my live-in and such but I still needed to leave my door unlocked encase someone came over. Unfortunately, Medi-Cal (Government Insurance) doesn't seem to think it that important to be able to lock my doors, turn on the heat or change the TV for that matter! If I get it, I'll be surprised, happy
but
surprised! I wish I was in an IDEAL situation (who doesn't!) to compare this treatment with how I've been these past 3 years. I can to a point in that I can REMEMBER other times I've had to stay up for lengths of time and being completely wiped out, needing days to recover. A nice nap does the same now as did 3 days of rest before! I have noticed that my feet are real swollen from sitting up so long, from the constant pressure. Here's a side note about feet and wheelchairs or lack of putting pressure on one's feet and toes by walking. Your toenails curl inward and down around the front of your toes. Or roll up into little tubes (like a drinking straw) leaning to the left or right. I take lots of kelp, so my nails are curled but they sure are strong, My mom says, they could be used as weapons!!! I'll submit another entry after June 15th or sooner
