July 25th Wow ...I think I know how Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz felt... Tuesday we got hit with a doozy of a storm here. Thunder, lightening as well as 78mph winds. Our neighborhood has alot of trees and now thanks to the storm they have had a real good trimming. It was frightening, our patio table was flying (towards the pond of all things), and big trees were snapping. All in all we are fine. We are all safe and despite the chair that landed in the pond the fish and other critters are no worse for the wear. Our power was out until 6pm yesterday though. Now that was interesting ..we burned alot of candles. There was a very sad incident for one local family here though. A father had taken his boys and a nephew to the video store and they were just leaving the store (in Woodhaven, MI) as the wind gusted. The wind took down the front of the video store. One little boy was killed and his father is in serious condition still. The other two boys from my understanding are home from the hospital now. It definately makes one think ... we should be thankful for all we do have and try not to focus on the don't or cants. Hugs and Love Oishda |
