January 16, 1999 Greetings Dear Friends, Wow can you fathom it ... 1999 is here and so are we! The year 2000 is just around the corner. Not many can say they remember the turn of the century let alone a new millennium... I guess that makes us a special group. There have been allot of changes in the past 100 years. Technology has really come a long way ...Just think not 15 years ago would we have the resources we do now. If someone told me then I would be where I am now I would have thought them delusional. Then again there are allot of things I would not have thought back then. My wish for the New Year for us all is a simple as well as practical one... Peace, Love and maybe a few miracles along the way. The best gift for me this year was not wrapped in fancy paper nor did it come in an envelope... my gift came in the form of a precious surprise... remission! Being secondary progressive I started treatment with Copaxone close to two years ago on the slight chance it would slow the progression of the MonSter my family and I live with. This past holiday season saw my wheelchair collecting dust, me dancing in high heels at my nephews wedding as well as me being able to WALK in the mall and hold hands with my dearest Jeff while doing our annual last minute holiday shopping. I know the MonSter is still here and I still have to pace myself or I pay for it ...But I can do more than I could this time last year or the year before and even the year before that! It gives me great hope to hear that with the new treatment choices I am not alone in this happiness. It can only get better for us all .... Perhaps with the millennium will also come a time where nobody will have to learn to Dance with the MonSter! Hugs and Love to you all Oishda |
